Sheffield Chamber Music Festival – 13th May 22
If you’ve never been to the Sheffield Chamber Music Festival and you’re a fan of classical music, this could be your year. This year the star-studded season of modern classical, chamber music takes place across various venues in the city in May. Combined with plenty of events for families and kids, the festival is a great day out for locals and visitors, young and old. Bassfest Summer Festival 2022 – 16th & 17th July 2022
The bass is back in 2022 with the return of the biggest electronic music festival in Sheffield. Bassfest Summer Festival brings together the biggest names in bass music across a weekend of fun and frolics. Held in the Don Valley Bowl northwest of the city centre, the open-air event boasts a heavy-hitting lineup of DJs and live acts from the drum and bass, house and bassline scenes. Tramlines – 22-24th July 2022
July sees the return of the popular Tramlines Festival, one of Sheffield’s biggest parties. Held in Hillsborough Park, this year’s lineup includes world-class musical acts like Kasabian, Sam Fender, Madness, The Wombats and more to be announced. Not content with fantastic music, the comedy lineup is worth travelling for alone with Jason Mansford, Russell Kane and Seann Walsh headlining the comedy tent. The organisers commit to do good while allowing attendees to have a great time; they donated over 100k to 20 charities in the past couple of years and love to host local talent.
Sheffield Beer & Cider Festival – 19-22nd October
Festivals are not all about music – sometimes beer takes centre stage! After a couple of years off for Covid, the fantastic Sheffield Beer & Cider Festival is back at Kelham Island Museum from Wednesday 19 to Saturday 22 October 2022. The event is organised, run and staffed entirely by volunteers with a passion for great beer, cider and perry. You can sample a huge selection of beers and ciders served in keepsake memorial glasses. The festival also features live music, street food, traditional pub games and more in a wonderfully atmospheric venue. It’s a must for lovers of delicious drinks.
World Snooker Championship 2022 – 16 April – 2 May 2022
Not exactly a festival, but no Sheffield event guide would be complete without a mention of the World Snooker Championship. Between 16 April and 2 May 2022, the Crucible is taken over by snooker competitors and fans from across the world hoping for a chance at the prize pot or a glimpse at their sporting heroes. If you can’t make it, the competition is broadcast in the UK by the BBC. If you’re lucky enough to get a ticket, look out for yourself on TV!
